Terms of use

Last updated 5 November 2026

These terms are the agreement between your business and Margn. They're written to be read. By creating an account or using the demo, you agree to them on behalf of your business.

What Margn does

Margn reads your supplier invoices and points out possible overcharges and savings, such as price rises, prices above what you agreed, invoices that don't match your orders, and cheaper prices from other suppliers or at your other sites. It is provided by [Margn's legal entity name and NZBN].

Margn is advice, not a decision

Flags are Margn's best reading of the invoices it has. They can be wrong, for example if an invoice was read incorrectly or a price change was agreed and not recorded. Always check a flag before acting on it or raising it with a supplier. Margn never pays, changes or approves anything in your accounts, and Xero access is read-only.

Your account

  • You need to be at least 18 and allowed to act for the business you sign up.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Owners decide who is on the team and what they can do. Anyone you invite can see your business's invoices.

Your data

Your invoices and the data in your account belong to your business. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Margn to you. You can download everything, or delete your business, at any time from Settings. Our privacy policy explains how we handle it.

Only upload invoices your business is entitled to use.

Fair use

Don't try to access other businesses' data, break or overload Margn, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.

Price

Margn is free while it's in pilot. If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell owners at least 30 days in advance, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Margn running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may improve or change features. If we stop offering Margn, we'll give at least 30 days' notice so you can download your data.

Liability

You use Margn for business purposes, so the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 doesn't apply, and to the extent the law allows we exclude the guarantees in the Fair Trading Act 1986 that can be excluded between businesses. Our total liability to your business is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $100 if Margn was free), and we aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost profits. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Ending

You can stop using Margn and delete your business at any time. We may close accounts that break these terms, after telling you why where we reasonably can.

General

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts can hear any dispute. If we change them in a way that matters, we'll tell owners by email first. Questions: [privacy contact email].
